About the Cyclothon

The Government of India has been actively promoting a culture of fitness and healthy living through the Fit India Movement, which aims to encourage citizens to adopt active lifestyles and make physical fitness an integral part of daily life. In alignment with this national initiative, it is proposed to organise a Cyclothon to create awareness about health, environmental sustainability, and productivity through active mobility.

The proposed Cyclothon scheduled on 29th March 2026 (Sunday) aims to sensitize officials and participants about the multiple benefits of active mobility. These include improved physical and mental health, reduced environmental impact, and enhanced workplace productivity.

The event encourages individuals to actively participate and promote cycling as a sustainable and healthy lifestyle choice while strengthening community engagement and environmental responsibility.

Important Information

ONLINE REGISTRATION (for 750 Cyclists Only)

  1. For participation, online registration on website www.bokaromarathon.com is required.
  2. Registration is open and shall close on 24.03.2026 or earlier, if seats (750 cyclists) are booked. Hence, dont wait for last date
  3. Payment of Rs 100 is to be made during registration. Please verify personal information before payment, as the payment is non-transferable and non-refundable.
  4. Online bill receipt to acknowledge payment should be saved / retained.
CHEST NUMBER/ BIB NUMBER and T-SHIRT COLLECTION

  1. Online payment receipt to acknowledge payment is to be produced for chest number / BIB and T-shirt collection.
  2. Chest number / BIB number and T-shirt must be collected by participants themselves.
  3. Age proof is required at the time of chest number / BIB number and T-shirt collection.
  4. Participants from Bokaro should collect Chest/BIB number and T-shirt from 26th–27th March 2026, and participants from outstation on 28th March 2026 from Nagar Sewa Bhawan (Near Mahatma Gandhi Chowk), Bokaro between 10:00 AM to 03:00 PM.
CYCLOTHON DAY

  1. All participants are advised to wear crash helmet for safety purposes.
  2. Organisers will not be responsible for any accident or personal injury caused during this event. However, medical aid facility will be available during this event.
  3. No motorized cycles will be allowed in the cyclothon. Only manual pedal cycles are allowed.
  4. No chest number / BIB number and T-shirt will be distributed on Cyclothon day and cycling will not be allowed without it.
  5. Traffic restrictions on event day will be imposed and advisory needs to be followed.
  6. Vehicle parking facility will be available and should be followed properly.
  7. Participants are requested to reach the starting point of the event near Archery Training Centre, Sector 4 (adjacent to MKM Stadium) at least half an hour before the start time along with their cycles, BIB, and crash helmet.
  8. Start time for the event is 06:30 AM.
  9. Cyclists are requested to cross over all the sensors / beamers at start, finish, and en route; otherwise, the run will not be considered valid and they shall not be eligible for medals, cash prizes, or completion certificates.
  10. Drinking water, ambulances, cheer and motivators, emergency services, guides, and volunteers will be available en route to assist participants.
  11. Medals to finishers will be given upon completion of their run within the time limit.
  12. Cash prizes (upon production of age proof) will be given at the end of the run.
  13. Decision of the organizer for any dispute or matter will be final.

Bokaro Steel City

Bokaro Steel City in Bokaro district is a major city in Jharkhand, India. The city is primarily a captive township of SAIL-Bokaro Steel Plant and managed by the management of the Steel Plant. It is also the fourth largest and most populous city in the state, besides being one of the most well planned cities in Jharkhand. The city is located on the banks of Garga River and on the fringes of Bokaro river and is surrounded by hill ranges at Giridih and Ramgarh districts.

Bokaro has emerged as an industrial, commercial, educational, healthcare, sports, and startup hub. It is also India’s first Global Active Partner City. The city is home to Bokaro Steel Plant, a unit of Maharatna Steel Authority of India Limited. Infact, the city draws its name from the steel plant itself. hosts tourist spots such as Jawaharlal Nehru Biological Park, Pindrajora, Tenughat Dam etc. It,Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, Jaypee Cement, Orica, Vedanta Resources, Dalmia Cement, Electrosteel Castings and various other industries.

Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL)

A fully integrated iron and steel plant, Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) is the country’s first Swadeshi Steel Plant that was built with the maximum indigenous equipment, material and know-how. It produces both Killed and Semi- Killed grades of steel.

Thoroughly revamped and modernised, Bokaro Steel is today one of the country’s largest source of flat steel products that offers a wide range of product mix of different grades and specifications catering to the needs of a wide range of industries and customers including Railways, Wagon building industry,Automobile, Pipe and Tube, White Goods, Barrel and Drums, LPG Cylinder etc.

The plant has a production capacity of 4.66 Million Tonne of crude steel per year.

With deep conviction in its innate ability to excel and sight set firmly on the impending growth trajectory, Bokaro Steel holds the prospect of becoming the country’s largest single location steel manufacturer.

Global Active Partner City

It’s a matter of pride that reckoning the huge pool of opportunities in the areas of Sports, Health & Well-being, feasibilities & achievements supported by the duly approved sporting drive of the Steel giant SAIL, Bokaro as well as it’s township of Bokaro Steel City in Jharkhand state has creditably positioned itself in the World Map as India’s first partner city in the International Olympic Committee (IOC) supported mission of Global Active City (GAC) in the year 2019-20.

The Global Active City mission is also incorporated by the health and wellness parameters of United Nations (UN)/UNESCO and the World Health Organization (WHO). Bokaro is steadily moving to acquire the full fledged status of India’s First Global Active City.

Active Well-being Initiative certifies cities as “Global Active Cities” through “Active Well-Being Initiative Network”. The salubrious concept was started by TAFISA (The Association For International Sport for All), and Evaleo, a sustainable health group, with the support from the apex International Olympic Committee (IOC). The creation and active promotion of sustainable health for everyone is the mission of the nonprofit organisation EVALEO.

The Global Active City mission also expedites the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG) 2030 to acknowledge the Power of Sports towards making the World, a better place to live in.

Since 2015, Liverpool Active City has collaborated with TAFISA and Evaleo on the Global Active City Development Project, which the IOC supports. It seeks to create a labelling and certification programme based on an ISO-compatible standard, thereby recognising Active Cities worldwide performing marvellously.

As part of the Active Well-being Initiative model, urban planners and architects design cities and facilities with citizens’ needs, which results in the creation of a Global Active City (GAC), which promotes and facilitates an improved quality of life in a re-engineered, sustainable urban environment.
